LIVING in Thanksgiving

We begin a lesson by singing a hymn. A lot of the time, we will ask the members what their favorite hymn is and about 80% of the time, the people tell us, "pagina 157-Count Your Many Blessings.The first few times that people chose this hymn I just thought, "they must sing it a lot here and that´s why everyone remembers it (even the people that haven´t been inside a church building for the last 10 years)." However, as time has gone on, I have noticed that they really don´t sing it that often, the tune is not that common, and 157 doesn't seem like an easy number to remember. Therefore, I have come to the conclusion that these people are naturally pulled to the habit of counting their blessings.

When upon life’s billows you are tempest-tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings; name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.

Count your blessings;
Name them one by one.
Count your blessings;
See what God hath done.
Count your blessings;
Name them one by one.
Count your many blessings;
See what God hath done.

Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings; every doubt will fly,
And you will be singing as the days go by.

So amid the conflict, whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged; God is over all.
Count your many blessings; angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.
Just like the song says, I KNOW that as we count our blessings we will be able to see the hand of God gently placing millions of blessings in our lives daily.

"...live
 in thanksgiving daily, for the many mercies and blessings
which he doth bestow upon you." (Alma 34:38, The Book of Mormon)
I am doing great here in Cacalotepec. LIVING in thanksgiving and enjoying every minute that the Lord has given me to be here. I feel I am so blessed that just the thought of naming them one by one overwhelms me. There you go, another blessing: the fact that I have so many blessings. Ah, the mission is great. I love everything about it.
Love you all. Keep counting. Love, Hermana Jones
