Bueno! This week we went to look for a less active member that someone had told us about a month ago to see if we could get to know them and help them out
a little bit. Hermana Avalos had gone once before but they weren't home that time
and another member told us that it is SOO hard to find them,
so we kind of expected that they wouldn't answer when we knocked on their door.
We knocked once, and they didn't answer,
so we rung the doorbell and still no answer,
and were getting ready to leave when all of the sudden
a young teenage girl opened the door. She asked who we were looking for and why
and we explained who we are and what we do. She invited us in to wait for the person we asked for (her dad and step-mom) and while we waited we began to chat.
She told us that she had just barely come from a northern state of Mexico where she was living with her grandma and sister less than a week ago, to live with her dad and that she was having a pretty hard time. We sang "I am a child of God" with her and said a prayer and invited her to come to church.
It was a pretty cool experience and we definitely felt that Heavenly Father had led us to her house at that moment. It's usually a hard thing to get people to come to church, but much to our surprise we saw her cute little head sitting next to her dad
(who i hadn't seen in church in all of my time here).
It was a beautiful moment of recognition
that Heavenly Father works miracles daily.
"Yea, and the voice of the Lord, by the mouth of angels, doth declare it unto all nations; yea, doth declare it, that they may have glad tidings of great joy; yea, and he doth sound these glad tidings among all his people, yea, even to them that are scattered abroad upon the face of the earth"
(Alma 13:22, The Book of Mormon)
