We touched the heavens!

Wow! This last week was an incredible one. I’m not even sure if I can sufficiently explain how amazing it was.

So about two weeks ago, we were out contacting references from a list of names that we have had since we got here and we saw the address a person that lives half a block from us. We decided to try to contact them and went to their house about three times, but nobody was ever home. Finally, one day as we were about to head home, we decided to try one more time to contact them. We knocked on the door and received the warmest welcome I have ever had on my mission. Before we even asked if the family lived there or explained who we were, the man at the door said "Come in!"  and then immediately asked us if we wanted to stay to eat dinner.  We went in and he introduced us to his wife and 6 year old daughter and then made space for us at their table. After a little bit of chit chat we found out that he was baptized when he was 19, but had been inactive for about ten years until he recently decided to return to the church with his wife and daughter (both are non-members). We shared a little message with them and invited his wife to be baptized the following Saturday and she said that if she felt it was true, she would do it.

We visited them every day this last week and this past Saturday, Hermana Traylor and I got to witness the miracle of the baptism of wonderful Dionisia! From the very first moment we met her, we knew that she was someone chosen before this life to be an incredible example to all.                       She has such great faith and desires to follow the will of God.

One of the senior missionaries in the mission once told us, "when you have the opportunity to take part in a baptism, you touch the heavens." I can honestly say that this week, we touched the heavens. It was amazing to watch hermana Dionisia apply the great faith that she has and show her obedience to her Heavenly Father. I just knew, the moment she rose from the water that she was beginning a new life with a clean slate.

"Baptism by immersion is a symbol of the death, burial, and resurrection of the Savior. In a similar way, it represents the end of our old life of sin and a commitment to live a new life as a disciple of Christ. The Savior taught that baptism is a rebirth. When we are baptized we begin the process of being born again and become spiritual sons and daughters of Christ" -----Preach My Gospel

I absolutely love this mission. I can’t tell you how blessed I feel to have the chance to be here. This church is true. If you don’t believe me, ask God.
I know, without a doubt, that He will answer you.

Con mucho amor,
Hermana Jones
